NBA Opening and the Friends for change project.

It's what everyone has been waiting for, the NBA season! Technically, the regular season doesn't start for another 25 days, but the NBA has already opened it's season to the media, and the first pre-season game will be played today, it will be the Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz at 9:00PM ET. So yesterday, NBA teams opened their doors to the media, the players had their interviews, photoshoots, and most importantly we saw a sneak peek on how the teams will pretty much look next season. A lot of awesome photos were taken, and let me just mention some of my favorites. The Lakers did a great job with the whole "Dodgers" theme, Ron Artest being the pitcher and wearing the baseball head and Kobe with the bat and his cool Dodgers jersey. The Rockets also looked good yesterday, with Trevor Ariza and Tracy McGrady switching jersey numbers, Chris Paul and Emeka Okafor looked like they were the duo to beat, but probably that's because Chris Paul is very photogenic. Of course the Warriors, who signed analyst Steve Smith to a one-day contract during the media day.

Enough about the pictures, let's talk about the teams to watch this season, besides the championship contenders such as the Lakers, Celtics, Cavaliers and Magic, who all added an all-star to their roster by the way, (Artest, Rasheed, Shaq, and Vince Carter) there are a few other teams to watch, for their own reasons. One of them is Detroit, they rebuilt the whole freaking team! They only kept Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince, and traded away for Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva, plus they brought back Ben Wallace. I'm all for the overhaul, but I think they should have traded for a better point guard, what good is a team of All-Stars if your point guard can't create a good enough flow. The New York Knicks are also a hot topic among fans, some are saying they are going to clear up as much cap space as possible and use it to sign either Dwayne Wade or Lebron James next season. I both agree and disagree with that idea. They do need a player who can glue this team together, they have lots of talent, but they have no definite leader, and they certainly won't find what they're looking for in either Dwayne Wade or Lebron James. Both of them are good players, but they have no sense of teamwork, Dwayne wants the ball with him 24/7, and all Lebron cares about is stats and an MVP award. If they want a messiah, I believe the only guy who can make them championship contenders is Kobe, but since that's obviously not going to happen, the most realistic savior for them is Chris Bosh. (If they can steal him from Toronto that is) One last team here, the Dallas Mavericks, they've got; Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowistki, Jason Terry, Josh Howard, the aging Jason Kidd, and if you want to count him, resident psycho Jerry Stackhouse. They might actually have a shot at the conference finals.

Off the basketball talk and on to some current events, I'm sure you've all heard of the two major earthquakes and the tsunami that struck the South Pacific yesterday. And you thought the typhoon was bad. Anyone else getting the "Day After Tomorrow" or "I am Legend" feeling? Yea, that's what I thought. If you're getting a bit creeped out with all this global warming stuff, remember that we can't blame anyone but ourselves, if you watched Send it on, and want to help put a stop to it, join the Disney's Friends for Change project. Wait a second, why am I supporting the envirorment!? Oh yea, because Selena Gomez is hot.
