UAAP Finals, NBA discussion, and some "girl talk".

It's been around a week since I last checked in with you guys, and there is a lot to talk about on the blog today, of course I must apologize once again for being out that long, but yea, as I told you before, school sucks.

We definitely have to kick this one off by talking about the UAAP Finals that took place two days ago, since everyone is still buzzing about that spectacular, double back-to-back championship performance from the Ateneo. Both Juniors and Seniors teams from the Ateneo, found themselves in a do or die game three situation last Thursday; with Zobel for the Juniors and UE for the Seniors division. The Juniors game was a very entertaining one, but damn, ABS-CBN was absolutely retarded for having that emo-haired Job De Leon report for Ateneo, I have nothing against this guy, he gives quality reports, and for me he's the second best in the league, but why settle for that if you can have Courtside Princess Jessica Mendoza do it! That alone spoiled the whole damn game for me. The Seniors game was a different story, it was fun seeing the Blue Eagles bury the Red Warriors by more than 20 points, the beating was so bad, that Coach Lawrence walked unto the court and shook hands with the Ateneo players and staff even if a full minute was still left in the ballgame, ouch.

I must say that they did a fantastic job this year, because I gave them a standing ovation entering the last few seconds all the way until the sound of the final buzzer, a fitting end to such an amazing season, comprised by a lot of hardwork and entertainment value.

Let's break down the key components of the Ateneo's historic season:
1) First on the list is the main reason I watch these Ateneo UAAP games, it's called the Samsung Courtside Update with Communication Princess Jessica Mendoza, she gives the best reports, keeps the fans in the loop, and never fails to put a smile on my face.
2) Coach Norman Black, who has won back-to-back titles in the PBA as well, made a repeat for himself, this time on the Collegiate floor. Is it safe to call this guy "Phil Jackson of the Philippines"?
3) M-V-P! M-V-P! M-V-P! No, no, no. Kobe's in the NBA! I'm talking about Rabeh Al-Hussaini, this guy has been consistent through the most part of the season, and he proved to be the "Fireman" for his Alma mater, quickly extinguishing any problems that arose during games.
4) Jai ho, Jainamite, shotgun, whatever you wanna call him, the important thing is that he proved to be a key factor, saving his school with his lightning passes, sizzling threes, and amazing court vision. This is probably the best example of a textbook style of gameplay, here in the country, you can all learn a thing or two from this guy. Speaking of Jai Reyes, go get some awesome merchandise from the Shotgun himself, prices as low as 300 pesos, visit Blue Crew Pinas for more information.
5) School Spirit. The Ateneans showed the whole league that they have a lot of school spirit, they always come in full force, and that is something no team wants to mess with.

Questions of interest: Can we compare Nonoy Baclao to Lamar Odom? How the hell does Eric Salamat get those steals? When is Kirk Long coming out in Candy Magazine again? Does Nico Salva realize how lucky he is to have been with Kobe?

Whooo! Off the local basketball hype, and on to some NBA discussion, interesting preseason games this week, how bout that Pacers and Nuggets match-up? Who knew that the Pacers could go the distance with 126 points over the Denver Nuggets, is that a preseason franchise record? Of course the two Lakers and Warriors games; the first was taken by the Lakers, Ron Artest nearly landed a triple-double with 12-7-9 accordingly, and Andrew Bynum led the show with 24 points, the highlight was an unbelievable flight from Chris Brown. I mean Shannon Brown. The second game marked the Laker's return to the historic Great Western Forum, to us Laker fans, the Fabulous Forum. That place looked totally trashed, but it just makes the feel even better, too bad Monta Ellis and the midget Warriors spoiled the party, Andrew Bynum still lead the Lakers with 19 points. Oh if you were wondering how Kobe did, he scored 22 points and pulled down 9 rebounds in the first game and got 15 points in the second, notice how he doesn't need to score as much due to the addition of Ron Artest. To finish off, the Spurs defeated the rich ass Olympiacos, and the Suns-Warriors game tomorrow will be held outdoors, so watch out for that.

Now ladies, let's talk about something you can relate to; Selena Gomez released her album at the beginning of this week, and I happen to have a copy, synchronized to my phone, iPod, computer and my brain. That's how much I love it, she really nailed it with that album, and if you didn't know, she had her first concert in the Roxy theatre, it was by invitation only, for those of us that were not lucky enough to get in, we'll just have to settle for these. Selena signed more than 3,000 copies of her album in a press event, and the fans gave her 50 handmade bracelets during the event. You just gotta love Selena. If you were there, and want to make some money, contact me and we can arrange a meet for your autographed CD. She also appeared on Conan O'Brien last night, if you're not from the States and you still haven't seen her interview, it's a must see, she looked amazing in that beautiful red dress. The Album is at number nine on Billboard right now, so keep supporting! In the WNBA, the Phoenix Mercury just won their 2nd championship against the Indiana Fever a few hours ago, I don't know if you girls care, but you should, that's why it's the WNBA! You guys have to check out the new Playboy this month, you won't believe who's on the cover. Looks like that's as far as I can go with the girl talk today.

Wrapping this up; for my schoolmates, intramurals are coming up, and if you're playing chess, I'm gonna kick your ass. I won't be playing basketball, instead I'll be the courtside reporter for my class, do other classes even have one? That should be fun. As I mentioned earlier, don't forget to visit Blue Crew Pinas, as they will be coming out with championship shirts soon, and for the Laker fans like myself, drop by the 96th most read blog in the country today, your one stop source for all news that is purple and gold, The Lakeshow Express.
